AnyPS5: the PS5-to-PC porting project — status, progress & honest guide

AnyPS5 went viral in October 2026 — and so did the fake download sites. This is the boring, dated reference: what the project actually is, whether your PC can run it, what it can and cannot do today, and how to avoid the scams.

The honest one-paragraph status

AnyPS5 is a real, GPL-2.0 open-source project on GitHub with roughly 38k stars and an active contributor base. Its current milestone is shader translation to SPIR-V and system-library bring-up. That is genuinely impressive engineering — and it also means no commercial PS5 game is verified running under it yet. Every "fully working AnyPS5" video, installer, or game list you encounter right now is fabricated. We keep dated receipts on the progress page and the games page.

Scam alert: fake "AnyPS5 downloader" sites exploded alongside the project's fame. Real builds are plain archives on the official GitHub Releases page — no surveys, no launchers, no antivirus-disabling. Full red-flag list on the errors page.

Can your PC run it?

ComponentRequirement (v0.1.x docs)
CPUx86-64 with AVX2, FMA, F16C instructions
GPUVulkan 1.1 capable, current drivers
RAM~13.5 GB (13824 MiB) reported
OS64-bit Windows or Linux

If your CPU lacks AVX2, no build will run — check the install walkthrough before downloading anything.

What this site is

An independent, unofficial information site. We aggregate dated, sourced community reports, explain the project's public documentation in plain English, and say "we don't know" when we don't. We host no games, ROMs, BIOS, firmware, or keys, we are not affiliated with the AnyPS5 developers or Sony Interactive Entertainment, and every factual claim on this site carries the date we checked it.

Frequently asked questions

What is AnyPS5?

A free, open-source (GPL-2.0) community project aiming to bring PS5 games to PC natively by translating the console's software layer — an approach comparable to Proton for Windows games on Linux.

Is AnyPS5 safe to download?

From the official GitHub repository's Releases page, yes. Most other "download" sites are fakes distributing malware — never install from surveys, offers, or third-party portals.

Can AnyPS5 run games yet?

Not yet as of October 16, 2026. The project is pre-alpha (v0.1.2) and focused on shader translation; no dated, sourced report shows a commercial game running under it.

AnyPS5 vs shadPS4 — which one?

They target different consoles: shadPS4 targets PS4 titles (including Bloodborne), AnyPS5 targets PS5 titles natively. Follow the one matching the games you care about.
