AnyPS5 progress: what works today, and where to verify it
People keep searching for AnyPS5 progress because the project moves in bursts — a release lands, a discussion thread explodes, then things go quiet for days. This page explains what stage the project is actually at, how to read progress claims without being fooled, and keeps a dated log of milestones we could verify.
As of October 16, 2026: latest release is v0.1.2 (Oct 14, 2026); the project is in an early bring-up stage focused on shader translation; there is no official playable-games list yet.
Where official progress actually lives
Three places, in order of authority:
- • The repository's README status section — the developers' own summary of what is working
- Releases — each tagged build (v0.1.1, v0.1.2…) with changelogs
- Per-title discussions / issue tracker — where individual games are tracked blockers
Everything else — including this site — is secondary commentary. When a screenshot or claim conflicts with the repository, the repository wins.
Snapshot — checked October 16, 2026
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Latest verified release | v0.1.2 (published Oct 14, 2026) |
| Project stage | Early bring-up / pre-alpha |
| Current focus | Shader translation to SPIR-V; system library bring-up |
| Official playable list | None yet |
| License / repo | GPL-2.0, ~38k stars on GitHub |
| Hardware bar | AVX2/FMA/F16C CPU, Vulkan 1.1 GPU, ~13.5 GB RAM |
Interpretation, in plain words: the project has demonstrated it can translate the graphics shader ecosystem, but "translates shaders" is not the same as "runs games". Full games require many more system libraries and services to behave correctly. No trustworthy source claims a PS5 game is fully playable on AnyPS5 today.
How to read progress claims (and screenshots)
Community reports use fuzzy words. Here is a strict scale we apply on this site:
- • Playable — completes a meaningful session start-to-finish without crashing
- In-game — reaches gameplay but with major glitches or crashes
- Menus — reaches a menu, gameplay fails
- Crashes — boots and dies
- Not attempted — nobody has seriously tried it
A screenshot proves almost nothing without a date, build number, and who ran it. Our games page only lists reports that include those three things.
Update log
We append an entry whenever something verifiable changes — release, benchmark, or official statement. No filler.

Frequently asked questions
When will AnyPS5 actually run games?
No one credible has published a date. The project is pre-alpha and the honest answer is: watch the official repository, not prediction posts.
Why do progress posts contradict each other?
Most are recycled or invented for clicks. Claims worth trusting name a build number, a date, and the tester — the same standard we apply on this site.
Is there a roadmap?
The project communicates through its README, releases and discussions rather than a formal roadmap. Treat any detailed 'Q3/Q4 roadmap' screenshot with suspicion.
